Every time I open a fresh page to start writing about a wedding, I always experience writer’s block. It’s not because there is nothing to write about, it’s because I don’t know where to start! For Brad and Melissa’s wedding, I think I’ll follow Tarantino’s method and work backwards…
Since I’m based out of Minneapolis, it was very fitting that this Wisconsin destination wedding would fall on the same night as a Packer’s playoff game. They played the San Fransisco 49ers that night and since we know the outcome, I won’t go there. But for all those Packer fans out there, as I write this the 49ers are headed to Superbowl XLVII. It could be worse.
We stopped by Devil's Lake State Park in Baraboo, WI on our way to downtown Wisconsin Dells. Even though it was frigid, the backdrop was gorgeous. Those images will stay in my mind forever. Who could also forget Nig’s Bar in the Dells!? It’s a true hole in the wall and I was thankful to have experienced the environment. Especially with Packer fans all around me, making their proud stance well known. Melissa had a great idea to have all the bridesmaids “belly up” at the bar for a shot, love it.
The ceremony was so charming. Jen with Fleur Couture did such a great job adding a splash of color and glam to the space. I especially love the angles I was able to achieve in the church. Half the battle is understanding the light in the space. The other half is obtaining a position to capitalize on it.
This was the kick off to the 2013 wedding season and it couldn’t have been any better! The long road trip was a blast and with Lindsay as my co-pilot, we cultivated tons of creative ideas for the weekend. The Wisconsin Dells is an amazing place to hold your wedding, even in the winter. Your guests have fun, there’s plenty to do (even if you feel risky and want to check out Marley’s) and the memories will last a lifetime.
To Brad, Melissa and both your families: I hope these images help you recall that astounding weekend. Lindsay and I feel blessed to have been a part of it and will cherish the memories we made forever. Enjoy!

Melissa gave her parents embroidered handkerchiefs to remember the big day. Tears were flowing.
